Better Bookmarks
Bookmark List for Players
Create a window on the right side of the screen (accessed via a button like the “Chat/Messages” window) for Players that shows a list of Bookmarks that the GM has chosen to be visible to the Players. The Players can select a Bookmark from the list and have their cursor and their assigned mini(s) teleport to the Bookmark Block. This way the Players can split up and reunite easily and without much effort from the GM. Also, if a Player gets lost in the map, they can easily jump back to where they should be.
Example:
The GM has created a small settlement map and Player 1 wants to go to the Blacksmith and Player 2 wants to go to the General Store and when they are done they agree to meet at the Town Square. The GM, having already created Bookmarks at all three locations when making the map, makes the Bookmarks visible to the Players. Player 1 selects “Blacksmith” from the Bookmark List and Player 2 selects “General Store”. Both Players finish with what they wanted and select “Town Square” from the Bookmark List.
Bookmark Tab Labels
Currently, when the cursor is near a bookmark, a tab appears near the sliders on the right side of the screen. Clicking on the tab will move the cursor to the same level as the Bookmark and adjust the Hide Plane to where it was when the Bookmark was created.
Talespire should label the tabs with the name of the Bookmark that created them. If multiple Bookmarks are at the same level, then hovering over the tab should display a list of bookmarks on that level to choose from. Only allow the Players to see the tabs that correspond to the Bookmarks that the GM has added to the list of visible Bookmarks.
Example:
Players are exploring a wizard’s tower. The GM has placed Bookmark Blocks on each level and labeled them “1st Floor”, “2nd Floor”, etc… and has carefully adjusted the Hide Plane each time the blocks were created so that certain parts of the map would remain hidden from the Players. The GM tells the players to lock their Hide Plane slider and use the tabs on the right side of the screen to ascend/descend the tower. When the Players have unlocked the secret door to the third floor of the tower, the GM adds the “3rd Floor” Bookmark to the Players’ Bookmark List, allowing them to select the newly revealed tab which raises their cursor and Hide Plane to reveal the third floor of the tower.
Custom Bookmark Tab Range
Currently the bookmark/marker tabs on the right side of the screen are only visible when the cursor is within 9 tiles of the bookmark/marker.
GMs should be able to customize that range while editing the marker.
