crashes when starting the game on steam during unity loading

I press start on steam, it begins loading unity 2021.2.14f1_bcb93e5482d2

The loading bar gets approximately 25% before it stops responding, there is then a window stating that “something” has caused the program to stop working

Ive tried reinstalling the game, then restarting the computer before playing it again as one post I found suggested, although that didnt work.
