Elgato Stream Deck Integration

What Feature would you like to see included within TaleSpire?

A Mac and Windows plugin for the Stream Deck Marketplace. The Elgato Stream Deck is a piece of hardware commonly used by streamers, but is also widely used by people who use it to simplify or automate their lives. While there are different models of Stream Decks, it is essentially a console of programmable buttons that connects to a computer in order to easily do things like launch programs, mute/unmute audio, switch between OBS scenes, etc.

The features of a TaleSpire plugin would include hotkeys to switch between boards, allowing users to map slabs or commonly used elements to different buttons so they can paste them into their boards, allowing users to assign camera angles to different buttons, and summoning players to a board or a location.

What situations would this Feature be useful?

This would be extremely helpful during both the building process and gameplay. The ability for users to create their own shortcuts would allow them to intuitively call up elements they frequently use, or use StreamDeck’s multi action feature to string together several TaleSpire actions for complex processes. For example, if a user often builds dungeons, they could hit a single button on the Stream Deck console to automatically open a new board, paste all the dungeon assets, and drop in their party’s character minis. For game sessions, it would streamline the process of summoning players to boards, switching between boards during complex encounters that take place across multiple locations, and calling players’ attention to different parts of a board with camera angles.

For game masters who have entirely digital notes, it can be tedious to constantly switch back and forth between game notes and TaleSpire. Being able to execute shortcuts in a Stream Deck console will make this much easier.

Additional Thoughts/Details

The Stream Deck Marketplace currently features plugins for programs like Photoshop, Spotify, OBS, YouTube, Discord, and more. You can learn about Stream Deck’s plugin creation process here.

I’m a game master who hosts hybrid games with in-person and virtual players, and TaleSpire has been an absolute game changer for my combat encounters. We tried several battle map options, and this has been the best by far. Additionally, as someone with ADHD who easily gets overwhelmed switching between several windows, the Stream Deck has made it so much easier for me to run a smooth, engaging game for my players.
