What Feature would you like to see included within TaleSpire?
A camera option that allows for a POV camera to fly around within your maps for a more immersive perspective. I DM all my games for my players, and we just use my screen streamed out to them for all of our encounters and dungeon crawls. I’d love a camera option that lets me fly around more personally in a room, effectively getting to give my players their own PC’s perspective in addition to the other views Talespire gives.
For example, if I’ve built my dungeon and my players are going through it, they’ll often get a glimpse of areas to come in the dungeons they’re in, largely due to the birds-eye view that is the default. This is especially common if it’s a dungeon with rooms built up next to one another. I try to zoom in whenever we’re playing, but it doesn’t always work, and I often slip up just because of the way the camera works.
I could see a solution in the form of a POV camera option that allows you to change the view so that you can fly around in your dungeons/rooms/builds in general, with maybe WASD controls for forward backward, Q and E for up in down like in a Halo game’s Forge Mode. Then, you could use the mouse to look in all directions, letting you really be in your environments.
What situations would this Feature be useful?
This would give the players better immersion for groups like mine where only the DM has Talespire and I’m trying to give everyone good angles without revealing unintended context about the next adjacent areas that haven’t been discovered or unlocked yet. This would allow me to keep a good sense of mystery to the adventures in my games.
You’d be able to fly around and give them the exact feeling of what it’d be like to be at their PC’s eye level, and would probably make the sense of scale that much more exciting in larger builds, or when dealing with larger-sized enemy minis.
Additional Thoughts/Details
I guess you’d probably want to keep the ability to right-click a door to open it while in this mode. And perhaps you’d even want to be able to move the pieces around and never leave the first person perspective.
