What Asset(s) would you like to see included within TaleSpire?
Hey guys. I work in entertainment production and I have a couple simple requests relating to venues, clubs, and live events. I would really like to see some of the stuff that I work with to literally build live events to construct scenes that are pretty common in a modern (and cyberpunk) world
Truss refers to the metal ladder like structures that you suspend (or rig, with pins and shackles and ropes and chains and chain motors) from the ground or from the grid above on the catwalk
This truss before you fly it (or bring it off the ground) is usually hung with lights and sometimes audio. Sometimes it’s “prerigged” or has everything it needs already attached and cabled before it goes in the air, esp in a rock show.
The lights, at least in real life, can be programmed per light for color, intensity, on/off, and delay and order. Moving lights can be programmed for gobos (or like the movement of a pattern on the inside) as well as what way they are facing, or what direction they move in, as well as a set pattern. Now, I’m not expecting all of this, but I just thought that it should inform the process.
Decking is pretty simple. You want risers? You want something that looks like a floor even though it’s got space underneath? No seams? Throw a carpet on it? Big Black Deck has got you covered.
Backline refers to all of the normal music shit, all the actual stuff that a band would use for making music. Think guitars, pedalboards, bass, drums, cymbals, amps. pioneer digital turntables. Stuff like that. Most people recognize this kind of stuff and it will see use in a lot of places, I think.
I could also ask for some stackable subs and line arrays. The PA is important, too.

What situations would the Asset(s) be useful in?
First of all. Truss is incredibly versatile in a fight scenario. It locks together. It suspends lights and structures. You can climb it. You can walk across it, if you don’t fear death. It operates at heights that would kill or mangle you if you’re not locked in. You can make a lighting tower. You can support a projector. They’re used in just about any kind of live production, from trade shows to sporting events to corporate conferences to festivals. The modular LED walls and jumbotrons are hoisted into the air from it. It’s everywhere. It comes in silver and black. If nothing else, this would be something lovely to have.
Lighting gets hung a lot to highlight a scene without getting in the way. You can set a mood without people necessarily noticing where the lighting is coming from. I’ve ragged on and on how important lighting is to a cinematic experience in the Discord. I hope we can get hanging lights, par cans, LEKOs, movers, the works. This would change the game, I promise you. Imagine illuminating the final boss in red, or having a light show. Imagine spotlights that keep people from hiding effectively. There’s a lot you can do, even moreso if we can get movers.
How common in a modern setting are bars and clubs? Couldn’t we all do with a villain with a flair for the dramatic? I think that in a modern setting, we need a place to be able to stage something exciting. And I don’t know about you, but placing your game in a modern and mundane world shouldn’t mean that you do away with locales dredged in the fantastic.
